The EBX form factor was derived from a need in the embedded computing industry to have an "Embedded Board, eXpandable" standard (EBX). The board dimensions measure approximately 5.75" x 8.00". The EBX defines the physical size, hole pattern and power connector locations of an open-standard SBC. Since it does not specify a processor type or electrical characteristics, the EBX allows for architecturally neutral embedded applications.
